A little background
In the past few years after i retired my situation changed, my main hobby of photography had been put on the back burner as i realized that everybody and his dog was taking pictures and posting them online, so i wanted to find something different to concentrate on.
I needed something i could do at home and didn't take up much space, i wasn't into gardening and had no room to set up any sort of workshop.
I had developed a fascination for all things time related, including clocks, watches and calendars.
So i started buying old watches off Ebay and got a small selection of tools so i could strip down the non running watches and bring some of them back to life.
Watches
I do appreciate the engineering aspect of old mechanical machines, so aside from a couple of vintage quartz watches my collection is mostly manual or automatic mechanical watches.
I have a small but growing selection of tools to enable me to service wristwatches and pocket watches, and as my experience grows i would like to be able to take on more challenging restoration projects,
this helps maintain my manual dexterity and my eyesight.

Why build a web site? Short answer, because i can!, Longer answer, another one of my pastimes is working with computers, i have used Linux on all my home computers for nearly 30 years and i have several small home servers running different tasks, Cloud services, web servers, DNS, NAS and media servers.
This is mostly due to me not trusting big American tech companys and my desire to avoid giving away too much personal information.
So i host my own web server at home on an old Lenovo thinkpad laptop, this is really just to keep my mind active as part of my efforts to stave off the effects of old age.
I do not run this site for commercial gain, it is purely a hobby, if i do sell any of my watches i do it through Ebay.

This site mostly consists of Wiki style pages generated from Zim wiki, which is a notepad application.
This is used for ease of maintenance and effortless uploading of new pages.
The Almanac page is generated on the fly and is specific to the location selected.
I am Anti-Social media so You Will NOT find me on any of these platforms as i value my privacy and they all collect way too much personal data.
